If It Works,...
Don't break it. Seriously now. This story is unbelievable. These people are trying to help these boys. To do something more than slap them in the pokey. And how do some respond? Crying out because there are religious overtones. The cry for Repression of Chrsitians....Excuse me, Separation of Church and State (which isn't even %$^@#*& in the Constitution) is sounding again. I mean, if it works, isn't this a good thing? Making criminals a productive and enhancing part of society? Isn't this better than years in prison? But since it's Christian...pardon me, "Religious", they don't like it. Come on now. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If it helps the boys, don't break it. Common Sense, people.

Work in Progress *Edit: Done!*
Ok, I'm working on getting comments completely up. I think I'll be switching from Enetation to Blogger. Hopefully, fewer problems, but all old comments will be lost. But, I have work in a few. Soon everthing will work. I hope.
*Edit*
I'm done! I now use blogger's comments. Ha. I don't need enetation. Sadly, that means all old comments are gone. But this gives you a chance to comment all over again.

I'm Curious
Why so few comments? Are so few people really reading my blog? do you have nothing to contribute? Or do you deign my material to be beneath your notice, not worthy of a comment? I know some people don't have a lot of internet access. But I've made a lot of posts in the last couple of weeks, some of them what I consider to be deep and significant thoughts, and I've wanted some feedback. I do acknowledge the comments I have received, but want more. *Shrugs*. I geuss I'm just starved for attention.

I Hereby Declare
Star Wars: Episode III is good. Great even. I believe it fully makes up for the sins of the past two movies. That is all.

Refreshing Look...
At various things related to the Iraq war.(Warning. This post will be long. It will also be *dramatic music, horrified screams, crying children*.....Conservative.) This essay deals with some reasons why the improprieties at Abu Gharib might have happened. It discusses other topics as well. A couple of my favorite quotes:
"And being left to sleep in the open air is one thing in Northern Germany in the winter of 44, and something else entirely in the middle of the goddamn Caribbean! I mean, for the love of God, some of the people screaming themselves into a lather over such an outrage will pay tens of thousands of dollars for the same privilege a few miles away on a catamaran anchored off the coast of Jamaica." - speaking of the prison at Guatonamo Bay
"But when things are this good and relative to human history, life in 21st Century America is far, far better than it has ever been, anywhere or at anytime then merely being very good is, well, kind of disappointing to some people. There was a time when the voices of dissent came from the poorest and most downtrodden. Not any more. America has gotten so rich and successful that our poor and downtrodden live like kings relative to most of the rest of the world. The standard of living for the poorest American states are de facto better than those in Sweden, to say nothing of Egypt or Somalia or Haiti. No, today the loudest criticisms of the West come not from the bottom, but from the top: millionaire filmmakers and Harvard University professors and columnists who live in luxury skyscrapers. These people have never met real savagery, but theyve seen it on Hogans Heroes! Anyone who can compare the US Marine Corps with the German SS has obviously never had to deal with either. There are millions of photos of people protesting President Bush. There is not a single photo of people in the street protesting Hitler. This tells me something. This should tell the Bush=Hitler crowd something, too. But it doesnt.
Reality has left their building. " - an interesting thought
"... I wondered how someone could seriously make such a comparison: remove your shoes versus forcibly removing your gold fillings." - speaking of a protestor of slightly increased security procedures.
This essay (a sequel to the first) gives a unique perspective on just how blessed we are here in America.
Frankly, I like this guy. I like how some of the things he says push even me. It is also a refreshing change from the hateful mounds of liberal rhetoric. (This coming from me, a conservative.). Now, as far as the Iraq war goes...*sighs*. Frankly, I'm going to say that my jury is still out. Bush made mistakes, but Iraq is better off now than it was. And you know what? While the rational part of me knows that it is impossible, bad for the nation, and maybe wrong, to go and free all of the oppressed nations living under tyranny (Iran, China, N. Korea, to name some), part of me would love nothing better than to do that. To fight for freedom. To save the lives of so many. To give them a chance at freedom, and a chance to hear the Good News that will change their life forever. I guess that part of me is the part that really enjoys the story of the Dark Knight, in all its gritty detail. That's the part that wants to see wrongs righted and injustice stopped. But sadly, it can't happen. Not until heaven.

A Moment of Silence...
For an undeniably great actor. Frank Gorshin, most widely known as the Riddler in the 1960's "Batman" series, died Tuesday. Despite my stated opinions on this show, I still mourn this man's passing, both as a human being, and as an artist and actor. He was actually one of the better roles in that series from my memory of it. May others one day step up to the ideal of truly great actors.

I'm So Sick
Of this world. Sin is commonplace. Christians are becoming a fringe group. Now, there is no real right or wrong except for moral relativism, political correctness, and "tolerance". Come swiftly, Lord Jesus. Part of me just wants to give up, curl up on my bed, and wait for the fires of judgement to sweep the lands. Another part rages against the darkness, refusing to give in, swearing to do whatever it can to fight the darkness, fight the corruption, fight the wrong that's out there. I think for now, I'm going to work on choice #2. It fits my personality and beleifs better. But hey, that's just me, the stupid whacko fundie right-wing Christian hick without two licks of logic or good sense. *Shrugs*. Whatever. All I know is what the Bible says, and what I'm gonna do. *Trudges off into the muck and mire of the world*.

Just Discrimination
You know, I'm sick and tired of it. It's like it's a dirty word or something. You don't know what I mean? I mean the word "Nerd". People use it like a curse, or some great insult. I'm sick of it. I'm sick of people treating us (yes, I am calling myself a nerd) like subhumans. Maybe not consciously, but subconsciously. Treating us like we have no feelings. Like all we care about are computers. Have people ever stopped to think that maybe we just aren't quite the social butterflies others are? And that in the horribly competitive environment at LeTourneau, often the muscle-bound jocks and the "cool" people are the ones who get the girls, who are often just being shallow in their selection. We nerds can care just as deeply as any other man. Often, deeper, because to one of us, a relationship is very precious. When people say all nerds do is stay in their rooms, have they ever thought why? "They have no friends." Have you tried to be a friend to a nerd lately? Or have you just dismissed the new lowest social class in America. Look what nerds have done for the country. Where would we be without the development of personal computers, or operating systems (even Windows)? Where would we be without all these things developed by men and women who would probably be classified as nerds today? Computers and so many other things? And what of theoretical science? Einstein was most decidedly a nerd. But it's ok to be respectful about him; after all, he's Einstein. He's, like, smart and important and stuff. He only helped launch the world, for better or worse, into the modern nuclear age. His theories helped revolutionize so many things. And you know what? He was a nerd. Plain and simple. Frankly, I'm sick of the discrimination and the taunts and the insults and the dismissal. Especially from fellow "Christians". Christ loved everyone. He treated everyone with respect. Even nerds. Why can't you?
P.S. Comments. Please. On this, and the other things I've posted. I want to hear thoughts from you people. As long as it's something more substantial than "You're a right-wing nut job!"

Oh For Something....
PETA strikes again. Now they are taking shots at the British Army for their disctinctive hats. This is just ridiculous.

Come on now...
If this holds any grain of truth(which I definitely believe it does)....Gah! Animals were designed to help provide food for us. If they were not meant to be eaten...why do cows taste so good. I've followed the links on this article. It's as bad as they say. The section against milk-drinking is frankly stupid. How they can connect any of those health disorders/diseases with drinking milk is beyond me. Of course, I suppose I'm a completely useless source. Don't have to listen to me. I'm just the milk-guzzling, meat-devouring right-wing wacko. This is just my opinion. But while we're on opinions...PETA(People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) may have a few good intentions, but they prove that the gene pool is starting to be in serious need of chlorination. The connections they are trying to make...ugh. Give me a break. Ah well. This mini-post has turned into a rant. Later folks.

Interesting....
Bill Gates (that monopolist we all love to hate) has some thoughts on the future success of the iPod. Perhaps Bill should think about the future for his own web browser first. Thoughts?

And so it begins...
I wonder what effect this will have on the nation. Let's just say my opinion has already been stated.

Done!
I'm done! With finals, at any rate. I still have lots of packing and cleaning to do. I still need to move into my apartment for the summer. I still have a wedding to go to. And of course, I start on my job Monday. So "done" is relative. But no more tests. For a while. Yay!

Finals This Year
Yeah. So. Content. About that. We'll see. In the meantime, here's how my finals schedule looks.
Wednesday
9:45-11:45 AM: Biblical Literature-final, last set of journals due
12:45-2:45 PM: Microeconomics
4PM-ish: Meeting down at IT building to fill out paperwork and sort out minor things for my BRAND NEW JOB!
5-ish (I think) Organizational Culture paper due
Thursday
7:30-9:30 AM: Calculus with Business Applications
9:45-11:45 AM: Software Systems
That's it folks. At some point before Sunday, I will pack up all my stuff, clean up, and move out of here and into my summer apartment, which just happens to be my fall/spring apartment as well. I'm in it with everyone from this suite except for Barbour, and the other guy for this summer setup is from this floor. So that's cool. And of course, there is the wedding this weekend. That's it for now. Later.
